Cavalry saber of the Strasbourg Guard of Honour, chased and gilded brass battle guard with five branches and openwork shell, oval cap decorated with fillets, spindle covered with filigree leather; straight blade with double throat, point in the extension of the back, gilded and blued on the half, engraved with trophies of arms, the imperial eagle and, on one side, an engraved cartouche on a gold background: "Garde d'honneur Impériale de la ville de Strasbourg", it is signed on the heel: "Coulaux frères" and "Manufacture de Klingenthal"; leather scabbard with three gilt brass fittings, ending in a brace and engraved with fillets; iron stinger, hallmarked; length 107.5 cm. A period engraving, watercoloured, representing a rider and an officer of the guard of honour of the city of Strasbourg; gilded frame; 28 x 20 cm. First-Empire period. Very good condition
