Shepherd and herd at Lake Schliesée in Bavaria at the foot of the Tyrolean mountains Pen and black ink, watercolour over black pencil lines. Signed and dated lower right Wilhelm Kobell 1813. 30 x 46 cm Wilhelm von Kobell was the son of the painter Ferdiand Kobell, a painter, printmaker and teacher. He produced a whole cycle of large paintings on the Napoleonic wars between 1807 and 1817 for the Crown Prince of Bavaria Louis. He was considered to have mastered the art of watercolour and aquatint.
