Attribué à Daniel II MAROT le JEUNE (Londres 1695-La Haye 1769)
The Game of Colin-maillard Pen and black ink, grey wash and watercolour. Signed lower left daniel marot fecit calamo. 21 x 33.5 cm Born into a family of Huguenots in the Netherlands, Daniel Marot the Younger was born in England, where his father Daniel Marot the Elder, an architect, ornamentalist and engraver, worked for William III of Orange. After returning to The Hague with his family, it seems that he only began to work independently after the death of his father, whom he had assisted in many projects. A few individual drawings by Marot the Younger are held in public collections in London, Leiden and The Hague.
