Three wooden printing plates, probably India, 19th century In carved and blackened wood, two rectangular printing plates inlaid with metal, studded and inscribed with a religious text in cursive Arabic, probably an extract from a hadith (account of the life and collection of the acts and sayings of the Prophet) for the first, an extract from the famous poem al-Burda for the second. The second is an excerpt from the famous poem al-Burda. The back is laminated with paper and the numbers 17 and 33 are engraved on one small side. The third, a printing plate on kalamkari cloth, probably Gujarat, carved with two Indian dancers in motion in curved medallions, a gripping element on the reverse. 20.4 x 12.9 x 2.2 cm - 16.7 x 10.8 x 2.3 cm - 13.8 x 20 x 6 cm Traces of use. The 'Qasidat al-Burda' or 'Poem of the Cloak' is a famous poem by the author al-Busiri (1211-1294) in praise of the Prophet Muhammad
