Three fragments of silk tapestry with stylised vegetal decoration, probably Syria or Egypt, 6th-8th century Woven silk fixed on a linen core, the first square piece with reserve decoration on a blue background of geometric elements and palmettes, the second circular made up of an assembly of two different elements, one with reserve decoration on a blue background, the other with blue decoration on a beige background forming a vegetal axis framed by leaves with a geometric outline, the third rectangular with brown geometric decoration on a beige background. 23.5 x 23.5 cm - 22 x 21.5 cm - 24.5 x 26 cm As is. The second composite fragment is similar to a piece of silk from the former Kevorkian collection with yellow decoration on a red background, attributed to Syria in the first half of the 8th century, or to the 1962.56.2 piece from the Textile Museum in Washington, D.C., from Fustat, Egypt.
