Amsterdam, Chez Jean Frederic Bernard, 1741. 3 volumes in-4° (224 x 281 mm), red morocco, triple gilt fillet framing the boards, spine ribbed and decorated, gilt edges (Trautz-Bauzonnet). "New edition ]...[ increased by a quantity of new Remarks ]...[ of those of the English Edition ]...[ of his Letters, & of several curious & interesting Pieces." A title-frontispiece engraved by Bernard PICART (repeated in t. III), a portrait of Rabelais engraved by TANJÉ (t. II) and sixteen plates by DU BOURG engraved by BERNAERT, FOLKEMA and TANJÉ (t. I & II), of which three "topographical" (t. I), one folded map (t. I) and the "figure of the bottle"(t. II); vignettes and caps by PICART. From the libraries of J. Coppinger and David Lionel Goldsmid-Stern-Salomons, with bookplates. Some foxing, scorching and discharges, but a fine copy in a red leather binding of the most beautiful of the old RABELAIS editions. Cohen, 840.
