Wax medallion in bas-relief representing an antique wedding; it is presented in a tondo frame with channels, heart stripes and string of pearls inscribed "Antique wedding". 18th century. Restorations to the bas-relief and the frame. D overall : 26 cm Provenance : Probably the medallion described in April 1791 in the sale of the collection of the merchant and collector Jean-Baptiste-Pierre Lebrun : "366. A bas-relief composed of three figures, representing the agreements of an ancient marriage, executed in red wax by M. Girard, pensioner of the King, now in Rome. This piece must give the most favorable opinion of the distinguished talent of this artist. Diameter 5 inches and a half, round shape".
