Pair of oval miniatures painted on paper forming pendants, inlaid later on both sides of an oval snuffbox in brown tortoiseshell mounted in 750 thousandths gold. One signed at the bottom of Lioux / Savignac after the 1757 work Marine, soleil levant, port avec un temple by Joseph Vernet (1714-1789) kept in the Calvet museum in Avignon (inv. 824.2); the second unsigned showing an animated view of a waterfall with Roman ruins. Accidents and missing scales. 18th century, c. 1760-1770. The hinge is punched: Paris, 1819-1839. Gross weight of gold: 19.0 g Miniatures: H: 5.2 cm - W: 7.5 cm
