"L. D. S. I. D. Augin. D. Pelagi. xxxxi." Manuscript from the first half of the 14th century in two (?) parts and one volume in-4° (210 x 275 mm), ivory half vellum with corners, smooth decorated spine (19th c. binding). 29 ff. (out of 72 ?) calligraphy in ink and Gothic letters on vellum skin, including a title and 23 ff. of text on two columns with 40 lines in each column, plus an additional page covered with another script (on one column), also dated 1335 (with eight lines in fine Italian). Numerous calligraphic marginal annotations (at the time). The first text sheet has the following three-line inscription in the foot margin: "Huius libri an[teceden]s (?) F[rater] Gregorius de Arimino // Eremitus diui Augustin Anno d[omini] // mill[esi]mo cccxxxv [1335]". Regulated copy bearing two large illuminated letterforms, twelve ascenders in red or black ink, small letterforms, rubrics and ornamentation framing the final praise (added). Gregorius of ARIMINO alias Gregory of RIMINI (circa 1300-1358) became general of the Order of the Hermits of Saint Augustine. It is said to be a treatise that he composed against Pelagianism (?). Numerous leaves in deficit and another one (the 7th) totally cropped out; red stains on the title; galleries of verses in the last eight leaves and the complementary one. From the library of Cardinal Flavio Chigi, papal nuncio (1810-1885), with a pencil inscription on the first inside cover. ATTACHED: a double page in-8° volant giving in particular the explanation of the main Latin abbreviations contained in the text. CONTEMPORARY RAR E MANUSCRIPT OF A WORK OF RIMINI'S GRÉGOIRE (incomplete).
