VICTOR HUGO.
L. A. S., June 5 [1841], at Narcisse-Achille de Salvandy "de l'Académie française, député", 1 page in-8°, address. About his speech of reception at the Academy, where he had qualified Louis-Philippe as aide-de-camp of Dumouriez (during the session of June 3, 1841 when Salvandy had pronounced the speech of answer to the recipient): "What the king desires will be done, my dear fellow-member. The biographies are formal, but I like to believe the king better than his biographies. I will therefore put lieutenant de Kellermann, and I will no longer pronounce the name Dumouriez. I'm sending the speech immediately to Didot. I have just reread yours in the Debates, and I am happy to tell you that if, as a man, in what is probably my illusions, he may offend me a little, as a writer, he charms me" .
