Black-figure Hydra representing a rod led by a bearded charioteer wearing a long white tunic, and acosted by a bearded man holding a sceptre. At the front legs of the horses is a dog. In the upper register is a race of three horses led by naked riders holding spears. Behind them a bearded man raises his hand and holds two spears. The frame of the painting is composed of ivy leaves, alternating red and black half-openings and a frieze of lotus buds. The collar is painted with opposite palmettes around a chain of circles. Orange terracotta with black glaze, bistres and white highlights. Old restorations, restored handles, plugs, repainted on the neck and belly. Greece, Attic Workshop, c. 525, around the painter of Antimenes H.: 36 cm Old Collection Edmond Cormier-Thierry-Delanoue (1879-1960) Please note, this lot is temporarily imported, it is subject to costs of 5.5% payable by the buyer in addition to the sales costs and the hammer price.
