Founded in 1778 thanks to a privilege granted by Empress Marie-Thérèse to Pierre-Nicolas Matthys, it was bought by Aimé-Gabriel d'Artigues in 1802. The latter wanted to perfect the manufacture of crystal through laboratory research. He installs a chemist at the direction of the company: François Kemlin who sets up the English techniques of production. Under the Empire and the Restoration, the crystal of Vonêche gains an immense success. After the Belgian revolution of 1830, François Kemlin left and founded the Val-Saint-Lambert crystal factory. Following financial difficulties, Aimé-Gabriel d'Artigues is forced to sell his company to the Baccarat crystal factory.
