L.A.S., September 4, 1830 (3.5 pages in-4); and 10 letters to him, 1800-1820. Long letter to his dear compatriots, asking them, "on behalf of the Borough of Gex, to have the enemies of the new government removed from public office". He called for "purification": it was time for them to be "delivered from the creatures of Mrs Dadon, Laboulaye, Divonne and having been mayor of the city of Gex for 10 years before and since 1789; having been a deputy of the department of Ain, for 14 years, on the Council of Elders, that of the 500, the Legislative Body and the Chamber of Deputies, being, moreover, by my position and character, foreign to the spirit of coterie and the particular considerations of interest or affection [....] I therefore believe I am entitled to the government's confidence in indicating the changes that the establishment of a new order of things requires..."... He talks about Sub-Prefect Chossat de Saint-Sulpice, appointed by the Ministry Martignac thanks to Girod's son, and his conduct since the last elections; magistrates, all creatures of Mr. Dadon (the substitute is "completely despised"); justices of the peace and the receiver (Mr. Drink "must be dismissed - he is an informer by profession, one of the most ardent counter-revolutions", and a member of "the association known as the black band, he is generally hated and despised"); and finally the director of the letter post office in Ferney, former Vendée chef, knight of Saint-Louis "of the 1814 batch"...
