Eugène LABICHE (1815-1888) auteur dramatique
3 L.A.S., Paris 1870-1877; 9 pages in-8 or in-12 to its number (dirt and cracks in the folds of the 2nd). January 20, 1870. Sending back proofs of a 1st act, with the request to have them proofread by the correspondent's brother, "because I am very inexperienced in this kind of work"... February 6, 1877, to his director Mr. Baptiste. Solicitation for the health of the whole family, and advice for business; he keeps her informed about the cows' bowel disease, and their food. "Now, if the cowherd thinks I'm planning to buy Normandy cows, he's wrong. I would rather be willing to remove the vacherie that does not seem to me to bring much profit".... He asks for the account of the crates for January, and the one of the forage seeds he will need. "Now is the time to prepare your land for the Jerusalem artichokes, it's the roots we do first"... April 26, 1877, at the same time. Instructions for the expulsion of a rude and disobedient cowherd: leave without compensation, but "let him take the cheeses with him. I don't know what he's asking for with his pair of new features".... A printed invitation for a dance evening at the Labiche's house, for M. de Mirecourt (1847), is attached.
