Jules barbey d'Aurevilly
L.A.S., La Bastide d'Armagnac (Landes) February 21, 1863, to Jean Wallon, in the Journal des villes et campagnes; 4 pages in-8 in red ink, envelope with red wax stamp to his arms. Amazing letter where Barbey wants to castigate Buloz. Without an answer from the "kind and indolent stroller" Léopold Giraud, whom he had asked to "see my enemy Montégut" and to obtain information from him "about this Buloz animal to whom I would like to give a pleasant moment in Le Figaro", he asked Wallon to obtain from Montégut "the best anecdotes about the role of the Revue des deux mondes"; he will take advantage of it to avenge Buloz's insults to Montégut, and to Jules de La Madelène, "killed by his atrocious mother-in-law, his wife's piss vinegar and Buloz, who perhaps can no longer piss! I will make it up to you, as my friend Rabelais says"... He asks for precise notes on the beginnings of "this toad", "his first jumps in the mud, when he was still only a dreadful tadpole of bookshop and literary enterprise", his association with Bonnaire, his relations with the ministries, "his actions, (was he fucking?) as curator of the French Theatre"... He regrets not being able to tell "his cuckold by Marmier"... "A whip on Buloz would break a little the monotony of my bucolic occupations and would give me back my hand for my return to Paris"... He remembers what Wallon did for him "in the last attacks of my life dog in these newspaper dogs. You have been a strong friend who does without saying"...
