Portrait of Anne Grené de Préfontaines and her husband Claude Perrinet de Longuefin Toile 134 x 98 cm Provenance: Probably château de Vaufreland (Cher) We thank Mr Dominique Brême for having brought our painting closer to the Portrait of Madame de Montignot and her husband (Toile 130 x 95 cm) of François de Troy kept at the Musée des Beaux-Arts de Nantes (see C. Gerin-Pierre, Catalogue des peintures françaises XVIème - XVIIIème siècle, Nantes et Paris, 2005, n°60, reproduced in colour). We find an equivalent composition, particularly in the position of the woman's hands. Born in Hyères, André Bouys is a student of François de Troy himself from the south of France. Portrait painter and engraver, André Bouys is the contemporary of Nicolas de Largillierre. He was received at the Academy in 1688 with the portrait of Charles de La Fosse .
